Job Title: Senior Content & Communications Manager
Reports to: Director, Marketing & Communications

Position Overview:
Merrithew is actively seeking an exceptional Senior Content & Communications Manager who will play a pivotal role in our organization as the primary writer and content expert. As a skilled storyteller with a deep understanding of content strategy, planning, and execution, you will have the opportunity to shape our brand's narrative and engage diverse audiences across various formats and topics. Your innate ability to create resonant content, combined with strategic thinking and hands-on writing, will be crucial in achieving our company objectives and strengthening our brand position in today's customer landscape.
Responsibilities:
Content Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute the company's annual strategic content plans, encompassing the blog, newsletters, positioning and branding, and communications
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing, Education, and Sales teams to align content strategies, goals, and themes
- Create an audience matrix that effectively presents our target markets, key messages, content types, and channels
- Collaborate with the Marketing team and cross-functional departments to create and manage a day-to-day blog/newsletter editorial calendar
Content Creation and Management:
- Lead content review and ideation meetings with the Education and Sales teams
- Conduct quarterly story meetings with representatives from each department to brainstorm new content marketing and communications campaigns
- Manage specific content projects from ideation through fruition, collaborating and communicating with key stakeholders
- Write, review, monitor, and edit all copy and content to ensure alignment with the annual strategic content plan
- Outline and write various content types, including blogs, ads, editorials, website content, product descriptions, sell sheets, catalogs, newsletters, emails, press releases, executive communications, articles, video scripts, and more
- Produce compelling and optimized website copy that adheres to SEO best practices, ensuring high visibility and organic search rankings
Audience Engagement and Relationship Building:
- Implement strategies to maintain and expand our community, improve key performance indicators (KPIs), and build and nurture relationships with key target audiences
- Continuously strive to achieve new standards for content quality and creativity, staying informed about best practices, competitive landscape, and industry trends to identify key themes and messaging
Content Performance and Reporting:
- Formulate insights and leverage reports to recalibrate content strategies and recommend actions
- Identify and develop KPIs and report regularly, utilizing platform tools and analytics such as Meltwater, to set goals, identify trends, and optimize tactics
Content Quality and Standards:
- Maintain and enhance a content library that effectively tracks our key messages, specific terms, phrases, and establishes consistent style standards
- Proofread and edit sales, education, and marketing collateral, including social media calendars and other required items
- Share responsibility in maintaining our Marketing & Communications guidelines, branding framework documents, and positioning documents
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Support cross-functional teams with other content needs and special projects to ensure consistency of voice, tone, and language
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in a strategic communications role, developing and implementing communication strategies and plans
- Experience in writing website copy, SEO blog content, email and social media messaging.
- Experience writing corporate communications
- Experience tracking and reporting on KPIs and deriving actionable insights based on data.
- Superb communication skills and the ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with internal and external contacts
- Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and solid copyediting and proofreading skills
- Strong understanding of the needs and sensitivities of different audiences and adapting content accordingly
- Capacity for innovation, idea generation, and strategic thinking
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and work effectively under pressure
