Job summary
We think this an exciting role, where you will help to promote, engage and influence audiences to join us at Osaka World Expo 2025 and see what the UK has to offer.
You will oversee the planning, production and delivery of Marcomms content for the UK at Osaka World Expo. You will work as part of a team of colleagues from across Government Departments, Japan Network and project workstreams.
You will be responsible for coordinating requests for content, advising on and producing copy/ messaging, and how best to deliver this through events, channels, materials/assets and other activities for internal and external audiences.
Your target audiences will include internal Whitehall Departments and Ministers, alongside international Government, private sector, sponsors and international audiences.
This role reports into the Head of Strategic Communications and will form the core team responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and application of the Marcomms strategy, brand and high-profile stakeholder and audience events.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on critical communications and marketing.
The successful candidate will be capable of operating effectively in a fast paced and demanding environment. We are looking for:
- Strong experience of drafting and simplifying complex information accurately, from multiple sources, into Plain English to produce engaging content.
- Experience of planning and managing a delivery schedule across multiple channels.
- Evidence of your ability to establish and maintain processes, plans and deliver multiple products to a high standard.
- Experience of collaborating with diverse stakeholders to ensure quality of input for messaging and content across a mix of channels and through different media.
- The ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks and products assigned to you.
- Proficiency with planning tools i.e. Excel and MS Planner.
- Evidence of using data and insights to inform content, event planning and design.
The role will be based in either Darlington, London, Leeds or Manchester. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.
Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.
Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London salary.
DBT will cover travel costs/expenses to any office which is not your usual office location in line with departmental expenses policy. DIT will not cover commuting costs to your agreed office location.
Appointments will be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences.

Selection process details
Interviews for this vacancy will be conducted virtually. We will, however, consider in-person interviews by exception.
