The Opportunity
As an Internal Communications Manager, you'll be an experienced creative, strategic and empathic communicator that can advise people at all levels on communicating key issues and internal initiatives. You will be a collaborator that can take the reins on cross-function and cross-regional alignment, understanding the needs of our internal audiences and how to reach them. You will have a global mindset and are able to communicate across cultures and time zones. At commercetools, we believe in transparency and are pro-innovation. We're looking for a highly-competent communicator that is passionate about building enthusiasm and camaraderie across internal stakeholders, and effectively bridging knowledge gaps. This person will primarily support our Senior Director, Corporate Communications and Chief People Officer and support across other key business initiatives across senior leaders.
Please note that for this role, we can currently offer full-remote work for candidates based in the European Union and in the United Kingdom.
Your Mission
- Engage with and advocate for employees: Develop internal communication strategies and campaigns with defined success metrics and data-driven insights that help connect our employees to a shared understanding of commercetools mission and values.
- Assess change readiness and drive change management communications strategies for significant function initiatives.
- Leverage knowledge and strategic leadership in communications platforms/tools including newsletters, intranet, town halls, podcasts, video, mobile and social to further develop internal media while establishing new, innovative internal communication technologies as needed.
- Develop content for use across multiple internal channels (e.g., internal events/speaking engagements, intranet, presentations, videos, and interviews) at both the function and enterprise levels.
- Support executives with internal communications needs, including advancing culture development and DEI strategies, drafting company-wide internal newsletter content and supporting other key newsletters, key messaging on sensitive issues, and presentations
- Collaborate with the rest of the corporate communications team to align external content, news, messaging and trends that may impact internal communications content
- Work closely with corporate communications to provide counsel and support for business issues, company-wide news and announcements from various departments (DEI, People & Operations, IT, Finance, etc.)
- Design new ways of reaching employees in a hybrid environment and use interactive employee communications to unify and amplify employee voices and activities in ways that advance commercetools strategic goals, culture and brand
- Work with appropriate teams to develop engaging brand assets while maintaining consistency and alignment across internal and external brand voice and visuals
- Operate at a strategic big picture level and have the curiosity to understand, coach and manage fine details
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 - 7 years experience in global communications (employee/internal communications focus strongly preferred)
- Proven record of developing and driving the execution of large, long-term strategic internal communications initiatives to a diversity of audiences
- Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills, and a knack for employee storytelling
- Experience creating compelling content and campaigns utilizing a variety of tactics and channels, including town halls, newsletters, video, presentations
- Ability to manage multiple assignments on deadline independently and as part of a team
- Ability to collaborate, facilitate and organize across multiple groups and levels of an organization
- Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
- Strong strategic planning abilities and critical thinking skills
Nice To Haves
- Multi-languages is a plus, particularly including German
- Exposure to global working and teams would be beneficial
