UPMC Corporate Communications is hiring an Internal Communications Specialist II to join our team! This position will work at the US Steel Tower in Downtown Pittsburgh. The role will also have the opportunity to have a hybrid schedule with work from home. The position will work Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Internal Communications Specialist II will work under the general direction of the associate director, develop and implement communications strategies for internal and external audiences in support of UPMC Health System's mission.

Responsibilities:
- Manage projects of increased complexity, sensitivity, or importance to the organization, or edit major print or digital publications. Manage all facets of communications projects for UPMC internal clients, including print, digital, special events, or video. Independently plan, research, and write copy that is creative, well organized, concise, stylistically appropriate to the audience, channel, and purpose, and conforming to department style rules. Take responsibility for approvals and accuracy of information communicated. Monitor budget and manage distribution and delivery of projects, as appropriate. Complete projects on time and within budget.
- Demonstrate service-oriented behavior in interactions with clients and co-workers.
- Serve as communication liaison to internal clients, providing consultation and strategic communications planning where appropriate.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects appropriately.
- Adhere to all department processes as established for editing content, submitting to publications, supporting intranet governance, and other processes as outlined by department leadership.
- Manage web projects of varying levels of complexity and sophistication, collaborating with departmental communications managers, clients across UPMC, and technical teams.
- Ability to keep the user experience top of mind while completing projects.
- Ability to learn different technologies quickly and use that knowledge to propose content solutions.
- Identify and recommend website improvements.
- Ensure that content and design is understandable, accessible, and consistent with UPMC brand standards.
- Contribute to intranet content operations, including information onboarding, regular improvements, and auditing, while ensuring usability, accuracy, accessibility, and discoverability.
- Quickly attend to user requests and inquiries through clear and concise verbal and written communications, serving as an information help desk; triage inquiries to other UPMC departments and escalate as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, health sciences, or a related field required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a marketing communications position or related field.
- Must have excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, research/interviewing, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills.
