Job description
The role
The Internal Comms team (students) at the University of Bristol - is looking for a full-time Internal Communications Officer to join us on a eight-month fixed term contract to help deliver campaigns and corporate messaging to our student community. The role involves creating and delivering campaigns, developing compelling written and visual content for use on University-owned channels, and engaging with students to ensure that our activity is relevant to their needs so we can promote a positive student experience at the University.
What will you be doing?
You’ll plan, deliver and implement communications campaigns for students – ranging from leading short burst campaigns (e.g University Mental Health Day) to working with the team to deliver larger projects (e.g. Your Bristol Story annual welcome campaign). You’ll be happy creating content – with excellent written skills and an aptitude for engaging audiences – and liaising with colleagues/suppliers to ensure our content is compelling and authentic. You'll post content across all University channels – internal and external - including social media accounts. You’ll help us to evaluate the success of our projects, using analytics and user research, and will provide editorial guidance on activities, such as the monthly Student Newsletter, to the Communications Assistants.
You should apply if
You’ll be experienced in planning and delivering communications campaigns, taking ideas from brief to evaluation. You have excellent copywriting and editorial skills, able to adapt your style to the needs of the audience. You’re confident in updating websites and using social media channels in a professional context, and have excellent IT skills, including knowledge of specialist software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite). You understand the design and production process, and are confident briefing external suppliers (e.g. designers, photographers, film-makers). You have an excellent eye for detail, able to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines. You're also keen on stats – using web and social media data and user research to evaluate success of campaigns and incorporate lessons into best practice. You’re able to work independently, but also are happy to be part of a small, friendly and busy team.
