Job description
The Digital Communications Officer position is located in the Media & Communications Branch of the Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS) and is part of the Digital Communications Team, Country Office Support. The Digital Communications Officer will report to the Head of Digital Communications.
The Digital Communications Officer will work closely with other members of the Country Support team to provide quality support and project management for country office digital projects. The incumbent must be committed to UNFPA’s values and guiding principles and be able to work in a team.
The Digital Communications Officer will facilitate the migration of Country Offices to a new social media management platform as well as support Country Offices with the implementation of UNFPA’s new standards for social media account management, the social media policy and other governance instruments.
The Digital Communications Officer will also support the migration and redesign of 130 UNFPA Regional and Country Offices websites and will provide guidance and support to UNFPA communication focal points worldwide.
The Digital Communications Officer will facilitate the alignment of UNFPA’s visual identity and design system online by supporting the upgrade of the Content Management System (Drupal 7 to Drupal 8, 9 and 10) for UNFPA Country Office and Regional websites, while performing quality assurance of migrated content and functionalities and ongoing maintenance of all sites.
The incumbent will have great attention to detail and will be experienced in digital communications, web management, UX/UI design and quality assurance processes.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Support the migration exercise of 130 country office website to the latest Drupal version
- Communicate with developers to identify and correct system malfunctions
- Evaluate and test website functionalities to ensure consistent product quality
- Facilitate the migration to the new UNFPA social media management platform, Sprout Social.
- Support Country Offices with the implementation of UNFPA social media account management standards
- Act as interface between Sprout Social support experts and Country Offices
- Provide appropriate and timely response to UNFPA country office queries for web/ social media management platforms
- Identify training needs and organize online training sessions for communications focal points on the content management system (Drupal)
- Create, update and optimize training materials and user guides as needed
- Monitor Country Office websites and Country Office social media accounts to ensure adherence to UNFPA digital governance standards
- Review content published on UNFPA digital channels to ensure quality and consistency with UNFPA messaging and editorial standards.
- Maintain an updated database of the specific roles and responsibilities of Country Office Communications Officers

Requirements:
- Experience in project management, UX/UI design and quality assurance
- Demonstrated experience working with and leading web development teams
- Knowledge of design and web standards
- Experience with social media account management and social media management platforms such Sprout Social or Hootsuite
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and ability to make informed decisions
- Experience with Learning Management Systems is a plus
- Proven service orientation with attention to detail
- Knowledge of Google analytics and reporting tools
- Experience working in diverse international environments desirable
- Fluency in English, knowledge of another UN language, in particular French and Spanish (UNFPA working languages) is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with international development issues
