SUMMARY:
The Royal Canadian Yacht Club is a world class yacht club with a mandate to promote excellence in sailing and sports. Located in a unique atmosphere on the Toronto Islands; the Club consists of an active, welcoming community of sailors, like-minded individuals and staff who share an interest in sport and tradition. The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto at St George and Bloor. With over 4000 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.
THE ROLE:
The Brand Communications Specialist at the RCYC is responsible for overseeing all branded communications, and all graphic and visual presentations throughout the Club. In this position, you will be responsible for producing high-quality content in line with RCYC’s Brand. The Brand Communications Specialist will work directly with the Director of Membership & Marketing on refreshing and redefining the RCYC brand.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as an in-house agency, working for RCYC departments – all creative to funnel through the Brand Communications Specialist.
- Responsible for oversight and creative development of Club event media promotions, including but not limited to internal advertising and signage, direct mail, email campaigns, invitations, programs, menus, etc.
- Facilitate the design of Kwasind Magazine – our Club magazine.
- Ensure staff and Committees are informed of updates to Club communication policies, procedures, and the RCYC Brand Style Guide.
- Responsible for maintaining and adhering to print standard guidelines.
- Work closely with the Sailing, Sports, Food & Beverage, Catering, Childcare, and Membership departments to promote the RCYC and its segments and services.
- Arrange and direct photoshoots for graphic design projects, board members, special events, website, and other needs as required.
- Expand the organization’s media contact database and fosters partnerships with the media, and non-traditional media outlets.
- May need to attend RCYC events to capture photo and video content i.e. Sailpast, Heritage events, lifestyle shots
- Collaborate with the Corporate Secretary to design and layout the printed Annual Reports.
- General support tasks for the Director of Membership & Marketing as needed.
- Attend monthly Membership & Marketing Committee Meetings.
- Attend sectional operational and special events when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary related education or equivalent experience in Marketing/Communications and Design.
- Must have Adobe Creative Suite experience (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
- Strong knowledge of preprint production and digital file development.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Some knowledge and experience in copy editing.
- Ability to manage and take ownership of numerous projects simultaneously.
- Understand branding and how it carries through multiple channels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a team player, work and collaborate effectively with others.
HOURS OF WORK:
- Some evenings and weekend shifts may be required.
- Standard business work week (5 days/40 hours)
