What we want
The Communications Specialist I, under general supervision, writes, edits, and assists in the production and design of informational and promotional materials, web content, and other materials for the Educational Psychology department in coordination with the Dean’s Office communications staff.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
No experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and graphic design applications.
Knowledge of social media platforms and content creation.
Knowledge of project management. Knowledge of marketing strategy.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields.
Two or more years.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing for an academic audience.
Responsibilities:
Marketing- Develop marketing materials, brochures, flyers, newsletters, and recruitment materials to help promote and provide information for the Educational Psychology department in cooperation with the college communications office. Seek out opportunities to build the department’s presence online and integrate new technologies for the promotion and marketing of the department. Assists with press briefings, media interviews, advertising, promotional activities, and special events.
Technical Writing- Write and/or edit content for academic and marketing purposes such as brochures, web content, and program/course descriptions. Writes content for annual reports, brochures, flyers, news releases, technical papers, proceedings, newsletters, posters, presentations, and web.
Web Updates- Coordinate the web maintenance for the department under the guidance of the college communications office. Solicit information from faculty and staff to provide necessary updates to the department website. Collaborate closely with the Dean’s Office communications staff. Update the web with appropriate design and social media trends, images and content. Include appropriate web copy. Follow web trends and routinely update the webpage. Seek guidance from the college communications office on strategies to communicate effectively.
Social Media- Maintain social media accounts for the department, establishing new accounts as needed. Develop strategies for reaching target audiences with relevant content. Monitor key social media activities and participate proactively in dialogue benefitting the assigned Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) member.
Data Analytics- Maintain and manage data related to communications marketing, including student recruitment resulting from web and social media presence. Provide reports as requested based on data related to marketing and associated student recruitment. Performs other duties as assigned.
