The ICCT is looking for an Associate Communications Specialist to join our team, working to support our work on the transition of the transport sector towards zero-emission technologies in the United States and Canada. You will support the development and implementation of the communications strategy and outreach activities such as media engagement, webinars, social media campaigns, and newsletters. The position is part of ICCT’s Communications Team and will report to ICCT’s Communications Manager. You will work closely with project managers and research staff.
To be successful in our environment, you must be intellectually curious, self-directed, and able to work with people from across the globe. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a relevant discipline and either background or demonstrated interest in communications, journalism, or public relations. Knowledge or interest in public policy making, climate policy, or transportation policy; and demonstrate an interest in solving our most pressing global health and environmental challenges.
You Will:
- Support outreach and engagement activities related to U.S. and Canada-focused ICCT publications and events, including producing press releases, statements, and other promotional materials
- Strategic communications planning related to U.S. and Canadian policies and programs
- Planning and conducting U.S. and Canada-oriented webinars
- Coordinating and drafting U.S. and Canadian newsletters
- Coordinating graphics and social media for U.S. and Canadian programs
- Supporting aviation, marine, and fuels programmatic work (in coordination with other regional communications specialists as needed)
You Have:
- Superior writing skills and the ability to produce strong working drafts of engagement materials (e.g., press releases, statements, social media content, etc.)
- Ability to understand and synthesize technical information and translate it for multiple audiences differentiated across platforms
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with researchers, editors, and other staff and with external stakeholders (including reporters and other non-profit entities)
- Ability to collaborate with teams, present creative concepts, and incorporate feedback
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines by prioritizing work
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Internet savvy, including digital and social media, online survey tools, etc., and a propensity to learn new ones
- Demonstrated interest in the communications or marketing fields (or related fields)
- Demonstrated interest in the transportation or environmental sectors and issues related to clean transportation or the environment
- Knowledge of or experience working in the nonprofit sector preferred
- Knowledge of Asana or similar project management platforms preferred
Our Benefits
This full-time position will be based in our Washington, D.C or San Francisco office and has a salary of $69,400 (DC) or $76,340 (SF). We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, substantial paid vacation, retirement contribution with generous 7% employer contribution, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
