Job Title Health Communications Specialist I
Job Summary
The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) recently celebrated 30 years of protection, prevention, and progress and there is much to be proud of. The Center has experienced tremendous growth and recent enhancements, including dedicated funding for the prevention and research surrounding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs); Suicide Prevention, Firearm Injury and Mortality Prevention Research; the integration of the Drug-free Communities Support Program; and refinements to its organizational structure.
As the Center has grown, it has been challenged to fill a variety of administrative and technical positions. To deliver on its mandate and that of the agency, including enhancing public health communications as part of the Moving Forward initiative, meeting data modernization goals, and maintaining the operations and systems required to deliver public health impact.
PCI GS is looking for Health Professionals with the necessary skills to deliver this work.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs health communication tasks, including but not limited to researching, writing, and editing communication materials.
- Developing communication plans, strategies, and timelines.
- Evaluating communication materials and activities.
- Develops relationships with writers, designers, and other personnel to coordinate, develop, and disseminate deliverables.
- Commensurate experience and education for the specific level.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 0-2yrs of related experience
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.
If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
