Responsibilities
Serves as an integral member of the Division of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications team to support the development and delivery of marketing and communications promotional materials related to institutional identity, in-house client support, and brand development. Creates original layouts and designs for print and digital media and develops content for communications with the division’s stakeholders.
Designs and prepares marketing materials for a variety of media platforms including ads, posters, brochures, postcards, e-cards and university publications. Adheres to Florida State's branding standards to maintain a unified and consistent look. Interacts with staff in the Division of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications Office and Staff from throughout the division to determine project requirements and priorities to ensure timely production of high-quality promotional materials. Coordinate with the office business manager and procurement resources to prepare digital files and invoices appropriately for vendors to meet production deadlines within the project budget.
Develops content for communications with Division of Student Affairs stakeholders. This may include departmental newsletters, mass email communications, and news releases.
Works collaboratively with the Design and Branding Specialist, departmental directors, and project team to ensure that high-quality marketing materials are produced in a timely manner. Reviews, proofs, and offers constructive critiques of other designers and design students' work across the Division when called upon to help create an atmosphere of creative brainstorming to meet the division's need for a positive, dynamic visual image. Assists marketing and communications students as needed by mentoring them on design and writing principles and technical issues. Ensures that skills are kept current through on-the-job training, review of professional publications, online resources, and training.
Perform administrative functions to support multimedia design work. Maintain project files and project tracking in an efficient and timely manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a post-high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
Ability to plan, implement, and direct graphics, and audio/visual associated operations.
Knowledge of current media technology and trends.
Knowledge of design and development.
