Job description
The Oxford Department of International Development is looking to recruit a Communications Assistant to join a small, but active Communications team within the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI). The post will suit a flexible candidate who enjoys working in factual communications aimed at engaging a wide range of audiences.
The postholder will be responsible for managing digital communications and will lead on the routine posting of the multi-lingual social media schedule of OPHI, under the supervision of the Communications Manager. They will identify opportunities for engaging with target audiences and keeping up-to-date with OPHI’s partner organisations to maximise engagement and collaboration opportunities. They will also provide some events support for several high-profile international events throughout the year.
The successful candidate will have experience or interest in designing social media assets that keep in step with current trends in social media. They will be highly motivated, relish a challenge, and be keen to collaborate with the rest of the OPHI administrative and research team and work with logistical partners in other countries and institutions. A high degree of organisation and diplomatic skills are essential to maintain the online reputation of OPHI and build strong relationships with high-level participants and their staff in person and in writing.
This post is part-time (20 hours a week minimum) and fixed-term for 12 months.
