Role overview:
In this role, you will assist with the day-to-day running of the communications team.
Working closely with the Director of Communications and Communications Executive you will help on all administrative aspects of the communications activities and will liaise with colleagues across the wider marketing team as well as others in Tes when appropriate. You will thrive in a busy environment with multiple stakeholders.
The Communications Team oversees both Internal and External Communications:
Internal: Our activities are shared with colleagues across the Tes family (circa 600 employees in UK, Australia, India, and Rest of World). Our aim is to engage and excite our colleagues about all of Tes’s initiatives and bring them along on the exciting journey as we transform ourselves into a global SaaS (Software as a Service) education business. You will help to share news with colleagues across the business via our various channels.
External: Our aim is to inform schools, teachers and senior leaders, and other stakeholders where appropriate, about what Tes offers and how we can help them. As part of the team, you will help with all the administrative tasks of a busy press office and will be involved in the creation and sharing of stories generated for our new products and campaigns, as well as assisting with reporting and general organisation.
You will:
- Assist the communications team with the smooth running of all systems, for example:
- Press Contacts database
- PR Pipeline tracker
- Online Press Database system for media outreach campaigns (Agility)
- Media monitoring system for monthly PR reporting (Meltwater)
- Tes Superstars (monthly reward & recognition programme)
- Tes Bulletin (internal bi-monthly newsletter)
- Tes Intranet updates
- Office Screens updates
- Corporate website update
- Be a point of contact for the media, and other external education stakeholders (for example school associations and organisations, MAT groups, unions etc).
- Work with the Comms Executive to help create content such as press releases, blog posts, data-led reports and other written material to communicate our activity to the media and the wider Tes community (via email, social media, editorial etc.)
- Help create internal content
- Help produce the monthly and quarterly reports to evaluate campaigns.
What will you need to succeed?
Ideally you be a school leaver (with BTEC or A levels) with experience in an administrative, communications or media-facing role, or have recently gained a post-Graduate degree.
You will be energetic and enthusiastic, someone who wants to learn and develop as a communications professional.
You will be a team player, who has a can-do attitude and demonstrates initiative.
You will bring good administrative skills with attention to detail and the desire to improve processes and systems. Some project management skills are desirable as well as creative, collaborative and good communication skills. You will be a people person and have the desire to build relationships with colleagues in different teams across Tes.
You will be comfortable and ready to learn more about the full range of communications disciplines from media relations, event management, to social media, as well as video and content creation programmes.
It is important that you have good writing skills and good attention to detail.
Ideally, you will have some experience of:
- project management
- media liaison
- writing quality & engaging content
- external or internal communications planning and execution
- digital communications including social media and email
- creative idea generation and execution.
