Hours: Part time (variable, up to 16 hours per week)

Salary: £10.42 per hour

We have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join in a newly created role of PR and Communications Intern. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a name for yourself within the outstanding environment of professional cricket. The Club is looking to amplify it’s content, driving both the business and brand awareness to new markets.

The ideal candidate will have great ideas for content angles, an appreciation of search intent. There will be a strong drive to see your work amplified across internal and external networks, and you’ll create excellent relationships with media outlets to achieve this. Ultimately it is about creating written content which has a positive impact on driving traffic and building business.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Purpose of Job

To deliver effective written content campaigns across both Somerset County Cricket Club and The Cooper Associates County Ground which has a positive impact on driving traffic and building business.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist support to Somerset County Cricket Club’s media and communications output.
  • Be responsible for delivering written content which amplifies both SCCC and CACG driving both the business and the brand awareness to new markets.
  • Create content that is vibrant, imaginative and fit for purpose while conforming to the highest editorial standards and deadlines set.
  • Create varied content to appeal to SCCC’s wide and diverse user base whilst keeping search engine optimisation at its heart.
  • Maintain and expand an industry database of press contacts and influencers, working closely and proactively to ensure content receives maximum amplification.
  • Liaise with central design team to ensure features are created to the highest standard.
  • Maintain brand values and consistency of tone across both SCCC and CACG.
  • Contribute content to social media channels, maximising the use of Facebook, Twitter etc.
  • Be responsible for researching, managing and expanding industry press contacts in both cricket and across wider marketing, business, events and communications platforms.
  • Produce copy with particular focus on persuasive communication and commercially led pieces that deliver return for Club partners or attracting new business.
  • Use of creative writing to build and strengthen narrative around the Cooper Associates County Ground as a best-in-class venue, using storytelling and content creation to drive event enquiries and sales.
  • Help develop an influencer strategy to enable SCCC to expand reach beyond organic channels.
  • Create exceptional working relationships with a focus on both cricket and non-cricket industry contacts and use outreach and prospecting skills to ensure Somerset County Cricket Club and The Cooper Associates County Ground are attracting maximum publicity.
  • To ensure the Club’s equity, diversity and inclusion policy and standards are always upheld and always abide by the Club’s code of conduct.
  • To ensure the Club’s safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times including adherence to the staff code of conduct and consistently advocating the safeguarding of children, young people and adults at risk at all times.
