Job description
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is seeking a news-savvy Communications and Media Officer to showcase the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner and his team.
You will have a keen nose for what makes a good story, with the ability to identify, develop and maximise communications opportunities for our key projects.
Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be required to work closely with partners such as Cleveland Police, the fire service, health services, local authorities and more.
You will provide a rapid response to media enquiries, proposing strategies for dealing with media issues and briefing the PCC thoroughly on these matters.
There will be opportunities to create content for the PCC’s monthly newsletter, the OPCC website and important documents such as the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan or Annual Report.
As a key contact for the local, regional and national journalists, you will produce eye-catching press releases and manage successful media opportunities.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a journalism or public relations role, with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving.
