Science
We are looking for a friendly, engaging and enthusiastic person to join the Faculty of Science Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) team. You will work in partnership with academic and professional services colleagues, to lead RKE related communication and engagement activities and initiatives across the Faculty, the Food Systems Institute and where required other research institutes.
As a Communication and Engagement Manager you will:
- Design, implement and update comprehensive Research and Knowledge Exchange communication & engagement strategies and associated action plans for the Faculty of Science, the Food Systems Institute (FSI) and where needed other aligned Research Institutes.
- Design promotional campaigns using traditional and modern media and promote the interest in the Faculty’s and FSI’s research activities through maintaining and updating the website, social media and other online platforms
- Engage with researchers to highlight and communicate scientific research to the general public and the wider academic community.
- Develop and deliver events at the University and represent the Faulty of Science and aligned Research Institutes at local, national and international events.
- Provide advice and direction on critical communication and engagement issues to the Leadership Team and with colleagues in central departments and report to the Faculty, Research Institute Leadership Teams on progress made using quantitative and qualitative measures.
And you will bring:
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills and the ability to liaise, communicate and build working relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- An enthusiastic and proactive ‘can do’ approach and the ability to operate at a high level of emotional intelligence when facing challenging issues
- Self-motivation, the ability to motivate others and a flexible attitude to working hours at busy periods
Experience of Science Communication and of designing and building internal and external communications materials, alongside excellent planning skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines and balance multiple priorities in a flexible and adaptable manner are essential. Experience of working in the Higher Education sector and experience of developing and delivering strategies for reaching different stakeholder/user groups would be beneficial but not essential.

You will be work on all three University campuses (two are in Nottingham and one is in Sutton Bonington in Leicestershire). This role is offered on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
