Commodities Operations is a dynamic team that enables the trading business to transact in global markets with a diverse set of clients in the commodities sector. We are collaborative Operations professionals who enable revenue growth while ensuring that the desk's trades successfully complete their full life cycle by designing and performing critical controls while creatively solving multifaceted issues as they arise.
The Commodities Operations team are looking for a highly motivated professional who will be responsible for enabling the global business and ensuring seamless front to back execution of trading and structured deals. Additively, the candidate will help support strategic decision-making and drive growth initiatives across the group. The successful person will work closely with the Commodities business as well as colleagues across FID, Strats, IT, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Operations.
The Commodities business is a market leader in energy, metals, and agricultural product trading worldwide whose professionals trade in both physical and derivative commodity risk. Since 1982, Morgan Stanley Commodities has been trading both financial and physical commodities providing solutions to clients who need to transfer, transform, or acquire commodity price risk. MS Commodities has 200+ dedicated front office employees, from 30+ different nationalities covering markets 24 hours per day.

What will you be doing?
Acting as part of a control function to validate and support all commodities transactions across; Oil, Gas, Power, Emissions, Metals and Agriculture. As part of this role, you will investigate and resolve complex queries through various means, including daily interaction with key stakeholders, trading desks, sales desks and internal groups.
The Trade Support Team acts as central conduit for the wider Operations areas. We are a key process owner and escalation point for issues and discrepancies with external counterparties, sales, and the trading desk.
You will manage key relationships with internal/external clients and Firm stakeholders and influence and negotiate with clients and/or other departments on key deliverables and timelines.
Drive business analysis for front to back processes and systems, including the solution design, testing and implementation.
Ensure high focus for regulatory reporting relating to deal structuring and settlement. The candidate will need to manage multiple reporting cut-offs as well as communicate submissions.
This is a fast-paced trading environment with opportunities to work closely with various groups across the global firm. The successful candidate will have exposure to a wide range of functions in a complex and dynamic market. The ability to multitask and prioritize will be key, combined with management of critical day-to-day functions.
The candidate will be expected to leverage the knowledge they develop as part of the team to drive automation/change. As part of a multi-year focus the candidate will play a key role in the analysis and subsequent implementation of significant platform renovations and various business enablement initiatives to support the continued growth of this global business.
What we’re looking for:
Considerable years of experience or equivalent within Operations
Background in Commodities (encouraged but not essential)
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Proactive, results oriented and team focused mind-set. You will independently manage processes and may have people management responsibilities
Strong communication skills: ability to summarize complex business problems and detailed analysis with clarity and brevity in written and verbal form
Robust analytical and organizational skills
Proven ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment
Ability to think creatively and strategically, and thrive in a dynamic and often ambiguous work environment
