About the role

We are looking for a Commissioning Editor to join our English Propositions Adult and HE team and to develop customised solutions for specific clients and markets.

As a pivotal member of the team, you will help to deliver exciting and innovative course materials for learners of English including a broad range of both print and digital content. Your remit will require editorial project management and collaboration with a cross-functional team working on a variety of levels and components. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are delivered on time and within budget whilst meeting customer needs.

Some key accountabilities will be, but not limited to:

  • Lead the editorial team through product development to ensure pedagogical effectiveness, market appropriateness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Keep informed of target market insights and commission research as required to ensure that products meet customer needs.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Senior Team to provide project updates.

About you

You're an experienced editorial professional looking for a new challenge. You will bring to the team your excellent editorial project management skills and proven experience of delivering print and digital products on schedule and to budget.

Alongside your experience of leading and co-ordinating teams of in-house and freelance editorial staff, authors/writers, and suppliers you will demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver learning materials which are engaging, motivating and shaped by key market insights.

To be successful you will demonstrate:

  • the ability to identify issues early and act decisively to mitigate risks
  • knowledge of learning methodologies and familiarity with assessment principles
  • proficiency in using a variety of tools and systems in your day-to-day editorial and project management work
  • a collaborative and motivating approach to project work
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
