Commercial Finance Analyst
Competitive Salary
Toddington – Hybrid – 2 days in the office
37.5 hours Monday – Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Finance Department where we are looking to recruit a Commercial Finance Analyst. The role will own cost of sales accounting for our M&S, Retail and Forecourt brands, provide financial reporting, analysis, insight, support, and challenge to the brand teams and wider business, that will drive improved sales and margin performance.

You will be responsible for:

• Sales & margin review including category performance, mix analysis and customer metrics
• Financial evaluation of trading initiatives including pricing, promotions, impacts on other brands providing sound insight, recommendations, and decision-making support
• Budgeting and forecasting sales and margin
• Ownership of period end process including:
  • Cost of sales period end process including accurate preparation of accruals, prepayments, and other related journals with detailed understanding of what the purpose and outcome should be
  • Preparation of monthly executive summary reporting, reviewing brand performance and analysis of variances where appropriate
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheets in line with policy
• Business partnering M&S, Retail and Forecourt Brand and Category Managers including leading weekly trading reviews, sharing insight, support and challenge decision making, communication, presentation of results and proactive risks and opportunities management
• Ad hoc reporting, analysis & project work
• Continuous improvement of existing processes

The candidate we are looking for will have:

• Part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or working towards as good accounting knowledge is required
• Great attention to detail
• Strong IT Skills, including advanced Excel
• Solid business partnering skills, including excellent communication skills and ability to work well across multiple functions and at all levels of the business
• Curious to understand and drive improvement and value
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritising as required and manage stakeholder expectations accordingly
