JOB TITLE: Commercial Executive (Sales)
REPORTING TO: Chief Operating Officer
LOCATION: Crown Oil Arena, Sandy Lane, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, OL11 5DR
HOURS: Full time
REMUNERATION: £24,000 per annum basic, plus commission structure
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
To strengthen and further develop our off-field staff, the club is currently seeking a passionate proactive sales person with a demonstrable record of selling, preferably in a business-to-business environment. Working as part of a small commercial team, the main focus of the role will be on monetising the various inventory available across all areas of the club, as well as assisting with hospitality, and helping to drive attendances.
The successful candidate will preferably be of graduate calibre, although non-graduates with a strong sales background will still be considered. The position requires home matchday working, so the successful candidate will need to be available on some weekends and evenings. The ability to contribute to other non- sales areas of commercial activity would be strongly favoured.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Identify, approach, and successfully develop new partners for a range of commercial opportunities across all areas of the club.
o Negotiate terms of sale and secure final agreements with new and existing customers.
o Provide written and oral responses to all inbound sales enquiries at the earliest possible opportunity.
o Cross sell and up sell to aid other commercial revenue streams.
o Work in partnership with the wider commercial team to sell events, facility hire, and other non-matchday stadium usage.
o Develop the clubs commercial database, ensuring all details are up to date, and that new contacts are added in a timely fashion.
o Assist with matchday preparation, as well as being present and visible is hospitality areas on first team home matchdays.
o Assist with the day-to-day management of the clubs existing partners when required, developing positive and professional relationships with all.
o Represent the club at local and regional networking events and exhibitions.
o Actively engage with all areas of the club (including but not limited to Academy, Community Trust, and Supporters Trust) to investigate current and future sales opportunities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
ESSENTIALS:
o Strong background in sales.
o Outgoing personality with a passion for selling.
o Knowledge and understanding of the region.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Able to work unsociable hours at times (e.g. commuting to home matchdays).
‘NICE TO HAVES’:
o Knowledge of football / sporting industry.
o Existing industry contacts.
o Degree level qualification, or working towards.
o Full driving licence.
o Based in or around Greater Manchester.
From time to time, the successful applicant may be asked to assist with activity essential to club operations that is not outlined in the above day to day duties.
