Job description
Monitoring & Reporting
- Oversee the development of our reporting suite across Power BI, SQL, and Excel.
- Maintain our automated reporting through SSRS and work with Teams and Finance to improve reporting.
- Oversee the production and circulation of the weekly and monthly trading reports and summaries for business tracking purposes.
- Work with senior managers in the Marketing & Engagement team to produce the monthly & Quarterly Commercial Review.
- Develop a common approach to the presentation of information, creating reports which are easy to understand and aid decision making across the agency.
- To work with any future systems to develop a reporting suite that accurately monitors the commercial performance and operational effectiveness of the agency.
- Assisting in the ongoing analysis of our site’s income & expenditure accounts.
- Reconciling income monthly/annually against Finance accounts and assisting in end of year audit.
- To oversee the provision of ad hoc reports as required by the senior CVO team and other senior managers.
Development Projects
- Carry out desk research and meet other organisations to assess best practice.
- Assist in the development of business cases with visitor and financial analysis.
- Working with teams across HES on implementation of new developments.
Industry Benchmarking
- Overall responsibility for the provision and receiving of figures for industry bodies (ASVA, ALVA, Moffat Centre, Visit Scotland and others) as required.
Forecasting
- Reporting on annual target processes and quarterly reforecast adjustments
- Co-ordinate annual rolling visitor and income forecasting process for all sites and income streams
- Profiling of the annual sales forecasts for all sites.
- To development admissions pricing models as appropriate to help understand and forecast the income potential from all site admissions.
Person specification
Essential requirements:
- MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Experience of using business intelligence tools to develop reports against complex databases
- Experience reporting using Business Intelligence tools (Cognos/Power BI etc)
- Direct experience of analysing business trends and interpretating data across complex income streams
- Experience of forecasting and monitoring performance against targets
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desirable requirements:
- Experience of working in the tourism sector
- Knowledge and experience of Historic Environment Scotland
- Experience of working with ticketing databases, i.e. Galaxy
