At the Museum of London we connect people with the lived experience of London. The story we tell is one of place and people, evolving through interaction and exchange. We summarise what we do in three words: We Are London.
The Museum of London is looking to recruit an exceptional individual to play a key role in preparing its collections as it embarks on a major capital project to build a new museum in the historic West Smithfield market building and relocate the museum’s collections to this new space.
Managing a team of Project Assistants, this role will plan and co-ordinate resources to support the improvement of collections information, building new digital assets and addressing documentation backlogs. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of Collections Management Policies and Procedures and related resources, including assisting with the development and delivery of related training.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the museum’s extensive collections. Working predominantly at the London Wall site you will be expected to carry out tasks with a high degree of accuracy, be highly motivated and capable of communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will have relevant experience with cataloguing, inventory auditing and handling collections.
As well as having proven experience of working with collections and knowledge of museum collections management standards, you will also have practical experience of using a museum collections management system, working on projects within a supervisory capacity and planning and co-ordinating resources.
