Coffeeshop Assistant, Hotel Indigo, Durham
As a Coffeeshop Assistant, you will be key to delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining high health and safety standards, and working alongside other departments to ensure that all of our guests leave the hotel happy and want to return.
Reporting to the Coffeeshop Team Leader you will bring a positive, can-do attitude all whilst bringing your own unique charm and personality, in terms of the role itself we can teach you everything that you would need to succeed, so as much as experience would be great, we are looking for more than this.

About us
Located in the heart of the Historic city of Durham, the hotel mixes old with new in our Grade 2 listed building, within easy walking distance of the prime cultural, business and shopping districts. This boutique style hotel includes 83 uniquely designed guest rooms. Our hotel restaurant (Marco Pierre Whites) offers relaxed, simple dining alongside local craft beers and eclectic cocktails. Our Neighbourhood Coffeeshop offers guests and the public a sanctuary to catch up on emails, read a book or meet friends for a catch up. Our Council Room gives guests the opportunity to dine privately, run conferences or celebrate their special day with us, holding weddings for up to 60 guests.
What is key
As Coffeeshop Assistant, key to your role will be:
- Attention to detail by delivering an exceptional level of service through a relaxed and professional approach.
- Serving guests and passing on your excellent product knowledge of all food and beverage offerings to both the team and customers alike.
- Maintaining and achieving the highest standards across all areas (customer service, hygiene, health safety).
- Controlling of stock rotation, understanding basic food safety principles, and adhering to them.
- Completing daily, weekly, and monthly HS checks as well as cleaning schedules.
- If you are someone that has Barista training, this is great, but we see that in hospitality, personality is key.
