Our client is a leading manufacturer of unique packaging equipment, an exciting opportunity has become available for a CNC Programmer and Operator; working from their state-of-the-art facility based in Derby.
As the new CNC Programmer and Operator, you will ensure all CNC programming and operation needs are identified and carried out meeting business objectives in line with quality, cost, and safety standards.
Your responsibilities as the new CNC Programmer and Operator:
- To ensure that production requirements are met in line with the production schedule.
- To produce machine parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC).
- Keep the machine and surrounding area clean and tidy complying with Health & Safety standards.
- Offer creative and practical solutions to both technical and logistical problems.
- Resolve any machinery issues, escalating to the relevant department as required to minimise unplanned downtime.
- To follow and adhere to the Company’s hygiene and quality standards (GMP) at all times.
- To comply with legal requirements in respect of Health and Safety of self and others.
- To identify all training needs and ensure adequate training and development is carried out with self.
- To demonstrate good employee relations within the team and to other departments.
- Agree personal appraisal targets with Supervisor/Manager.
- Work towards the utilisation of Lean Manufacturing techniques in line with Company objectives to support the continuous improvement of the Company.
- To carry out any other relevant tasks as may be required by circumstances or are requested by the Company.
Required skills as the new CNC Programmer and Operator:
- A basic level of numeracy and literature at GCSE level or equivalent.
- A time served Apprenticeship in Engineering or HNC / HND or equivalent.
- IT skills to encompass Microsoft and FileMaker.
- Excellent organisational, time keeping and communications skills.
- Have a strong eye for detail with the ability to identify faults and provide solutions.
- Able to work as part of a team and off own initiative, demonstrating a confident and competent and confident approach to decision making.
- The ability to follow instructions and prioritise workload productively to meet deadlines.
- Have a positive attitude with adaptability to support the business requirements.
About the role:
- £13-£16 per hour (Depending on Experience).
- Day shift to start with but may go on to a day/afternoon shift in the future.
- Monday – Friday.
