This is an exciting role if you have marketing and communications experience and are looking to develop your career with a high-profile charitable organisation.

Y ou'll support the Anglesey Abbey and Fenland portfolios, which includes Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve and Houghton Mill, with a wide-ranging programme of events and conservation work.

In this varied role, you’ll promote what we do, across the full marketing mix - through media relations, social media and web content. With your help we can share our charity work in caring for the nation’s heritage and landscapes, making them accessible to all.

You’ll work closely with the Anglesey Abbey and Fenland teams, which includes spending time at places like Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve.

Anglesey Abbey is one of the National Trust’s treasure houses, with a garden that attracts thousands of visitors to see its changing floral displays, year-round. Houghton Mill is an impressive 18 th century watermill that’s still in operation with a popular campsite. And Wicken Fen is the National Trust’s oldest nature reserve and England’s most famous fen. It’s one of Europe’s most important wetlands that supports more than 9000 species, and somewhere where we’ve got exciting work ahead to support our nature and climate ambitions.

There will be the opportunity to explore and agree a hybrid working arrangement that strikes the right balance for you and the Trust. You’ll be working across the different sites you support, with some home working. We can also discuss the most appropriate base for you.


What you'll be doing:You’ll be on hand to offer support and advice to property colleagues and take the lead on all marketing and communications activity at the places in your portfolio. You'll be planning, creating, editing, proof-reading, co-ordinating, collating and sharing content for offline and online channels. You will work on our website and support our social media activity, sharing fascinating stories about the work we do with the media and enticing visitors to come back season after season.

Who we're looking forWe’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Practical experience in a marketing and communications role, with a good understanding of how different channels can be used effectively
  • Experience of developing marketing and communications plans
  • Good eye for design and presentation, with an understanding of brand management
  • Proven track record in creating, using and editing content across different channels (web, social, media, PR, email), based on audience insight and evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of information shared
  • Good team player, able to motivate others and build strong relationships
  • Well organised and able to manage multiple pieces of work in order to meet deadlines
