Are you an innovative and idea-creating Marketer? We currently have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Marketing Officer to join our team. The role is a blend of an account executive, copywriter and a more traditional marketing role. Working closely with Heads of School and Course Leaders, you’ll help the University achieve its student recruitment targets for undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and short courses, worldwide.
This role needs someone who is ready to share ideas and hit the ground running. You’ll be responsible for subject-led marketing activities, working with the Digital Team to run advertising campaigns, writing content plans and working with the design team to brief in creative assets. You’ll develop marketing campaigns, produce copy, marketing materials and send promotional e-communications to prospective enquiries.
Whilst you often work within a team environment, majority of your time within this position you’ll be working independently on your given dedicated subject area. You are expected to manage your priorities in line with the Academic School’s need, explore and bring new ideas to the table and bolster student recruitment numbers through putting plans into practice.
Computer literacy is essential, as is a flexible approach to work, excellent copywriting skills, strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.

Job Purpose:
This role is a blend of in-house agency account executive and a more traditional marketing role. Working closely with course leaders, marketing colleagues and the creative studio, the post holder will help the University achieve its student recruitment targets for undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and short courses, worldwide.
Responsible for subject-led marketing activities, working with the Digital Team to run advertising campaigns, writing content plans and working with the design team to brief in assets. The Marketing Officer will develop marketing campaigns, marketing materials and send promotional e-communications to prospective enquiries and applicants. Copywriting is a large part of the role.
The Marketing Officer will be expected to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in order to fulfil this aim.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
- To undertake campaign planning and fulfilment, working with internal and external stakeholders to meet recruitment targets and deliver effective ROI
- To work with the creative design team to produce marketing materials, online and in print, to raise the profile of the University and its courses
- To promote the portfolio of courses offered by the University, ensuring information is current and engaging; this may involve collating and organising information, copywriting and proof-reading, and managing the production process
- Working as a business partner, building good working relationships with various colleagues across a variety of teams and responsibility levels in order to provide the best marketing service
- To create and implement an effective student enquires communications plan, managing the collation and sending of promotional e-communications, using the CRM system and databases for subscriber information, evaluating and analysing results, ensuring that communications are delivered on time, compliant, and deliver strong OR/CTR
- To work with the digital team to plan messaging and content for all channels. Evaluate and analyse results from campaigns to inform future activity
- To ensure consistency of the Buckinghamshire New University brand across all aspects of marketing activity for both internal and external projects, ensuring that the University’s Style Guide and Brand Guidelines are followed
- To support marketing activity across the University, including other departments, such as Research institutes and centres and other directorates
- To undertake analysis of market information and recommend improvements to support the development of key initiatives and campaigns; this may extend to researching new course proposals, competitor analysis and industry trends, working in close liaison with other key stakeholders
- To ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and processes, such as CMA and GDPR
- To maintain knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures relating to higher education marketing, recruitment and admissions processes, marketing trends and best practices
- To carry out any reasonable requests from the Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment and the Senior Marketing Manager, commensurate to the grade of the post.
