Club Accountant / Bookkeeper Part-Time Barnet, England
Job description
Hadley Wood Golf Club is a Private Members' Golf Club located in Barnet, Hertfordshire, 5 minutes from Junction 24 of the M25. Set in a beautiful 260-acre parkland location off Beech Hill, the Georgian Mansion House acts as the Club's Clubhouse and Office.
The Club comprises of 800 members of different categories and has just completed its Centenary Year. A position has become available to join a progressive, small office team at an exciting point in the club's future.
The Club Accountant/Bookkeeper is to be responsible for assisting the General Manager with the provision of financial administration of the club. Thorough knowledge of double entry accounting is essential and expertise with Xero Accounts is paramount.
The candidate should be highly experienced with Excel and Outlook and will have had high level experience in a similar sector, being up to date with current financial guidelines and legislation. A flexible approach to working is required as seasonal demands change and should be able to work unsupervised but also as part of a team. Problem-solving, attention to detail and accuracy under time restraints are highly desirable qualities with the position. A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role is preferred.
The role is weekday based on 24 hours per week with additional hours occasionally required at peak times. The hours can be split over 3 days Monday-Friday between 10am-4PM if required. This includes assisting the manager and ensuring the following is provided:
- Weekly banking reconciliation
- Preparation of banking
- Reconciliation of competition charges and payments
- Reconciliation of standing order/direct debit income
- Invoicing all events and golf societies (Recording and analysis including sales ledger invoices and credit control)
- Payroll
- Uploading of all pension data for employees
- Ensuring timely supplier payments, and processing of payroll payments using online banking software - currently Barclays
- Preparation of quarterly VAT return
- Preparation of year-end accounts and audit file
- Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts
- Reviewing and suggesting ways to improve the systems currently in place
- Recording and analysing subscription and entrance fee income
- Controlling the clubs fixed asset register
- Ensuring adequate records are kept in relation to the current and historical accounts
