Cloud Engineer – Permanent Role

What you’ll be doing ?
The Cloud Engineer is an IT professional, specialising in the configuration, automation and support of Public Cloud services underpinning Thames Water’s journey to the Cloud. You will be joining an established platform team working on Azure.
Role Responsibilities
- Work with projects to bring new services on to the platform.
- Identify and automate cloud platform processes where there is proven business value.
- Work in a collaborative way with members of the team using Agile methodology.
- Highlight opportunities for automation of our resolution steps where possible.
- Support IaaS services in Azure and AWS (Windows and Linux)
- Support PaaS services, Azure SQL Database, etc.
- Maintenance and continual improvement of Cloud monitoring solutions.
- Diagnose and Fix L2 related support incidents.
- Manage, maintain, support, and improve our ability to respond to incidents across the entirety of the IT Infrastructure estate.
- Respond to Incidents raised by the business in ServiceNow.
- Liaise with all appropriate parties to resolve tickets as they arrive.
- Participate in the Change and Release process.
What you should bring to the role ?
- Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced IT operations environment.
- Will be versed in all aspects of Cloud technology, from IaaS to PaaS solutions. Certification in either Azure an advantage.
- Knowledge of Terraform automation desirable.
- Good grasp of platform design methodologies and best practices when it comes to securing those platforms in a Cloud environment.
- Understands and has used Azure DevOps in an enterprise environment.
- Be highly technical in nature and have a good understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Good working knowledge of PowerShell, ARM Templates, Unix shell scripting
- Can integrate well with a small team of highly technical individuals.
- Broad exposure to lots of different technologies.
- Be highly flexible in approach to the work required.
