The Department
The Global Technology department plays a crucial role in supporting the success of the business. We are responsible for developing and implementing innovative software and hardware maintenance to support our fund management, trading,

Overview of the role
You will be part of the dedicated Cloud Engineering & Support team that is responsible for design, build and operational aspects of hybrid cloud. The successful candidate will be expected to have recent hands-on practical experience of running infrastructure resources and platforms within hybrid cloud using Microsoft Azure and will require the skills to collaboratively lead and mentor less-experienced team members through the process.
You will also be familiar with the challenges of implementing Infrastructure-as-Code practices and will have had practical experience of Devops and CD / CI at previous organisations.
You will be broadly familiar with the services and capabilities of the key public cloud providers and be comfortable at consulting with the Business in re-architecting systems to demonstrate the benefits of the cloud platform.
You will work across all areas within the IT Department to ensure knowledge transfer and skills adoption and will work with other parts of the Business to meet delivery requirements.
Duties and responsibilities
You will:
- Provide 1st / 2nd line Operations Support for JHI Cloud applications including membership of the on-call support Rota.
- Provide Infrastructure subject matter expertise in support of Janus Henderson’s cloud platforms running in Microsoft Azure.
- Be proactively responsible for ensuring the health of the cloud platform through regular maintenance activities, audit reviews and through the development of continuous improvement goals.
- Drive the technical design and implementation for Janus Henderson’s hybrid cloud capabilities, including establishing design and engineering patterns.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code, for use at scale within an Enterprise Environment, to support automated adherence to the patterns using Terraform, Yaml and Azure DevOps Pipelines and Repos.
- Develop and mature CloudOps capabilities within the team and identify simplification opportunities for operational processes.
- Engage in, or help develop, governance processes that ensure systems compliance to Janus Henderson’s cloud computing policy.
- Provide technical leadership and consultancy at initiation and design stages within projects and other changes which impact the hybrid cloud platform.
- Write clear and concise design & support documentation that is consistent with Janus Henderson’s design principles.
- Identify and promote innovative technologies that provide value as business enablers or create improvements in business process, cost, performance, and sustainability.
- Provide integration skills and experience to ensure the interoperability of new and existing systems.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Technical skills and qualifications
- Significant and recent experience with Microsoft Azure PaaS & IaaS offerings in both an infrastructure and application context
- Significant experience as either a Cloud Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer in a global enterprise.
- Significant development experience of IaC using Terraform.
- Significant experience with Microsoft identity systems including Active Directory, Azure AD and associated technologies.
- Significant breadth of experience across business, application and data Architecture Domains.
- Proven problem management and resolution skills.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services in both an infrastructure and application context (desirable but not mandatory)
- Experience of working within an Agile framework
