Job overview
These are exciting times for Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for Band 3 Clinical Support Workers to work in our existing teams in Macclesfield and Alderley Edge.
Our services consist of the following specialist inpatient areas:
- Mulberry Ward- A 26 bed acute admissions ward (Macclesfield)
- Silk Ward- A 15 bed specialist Dementia ward (Macclesfield)
- Alderley Unit- A male Low Secure Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability Ward (Nether Alderley)
- Saddlebridge Recovery Centre- A male 15 bed Low Secure Mental Health Ward (Nether Alderley)
All areas have a successful structure of MDT working and you will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team and have an ethos of collaborative working between individual service users, carers and other stakeholders.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for motivated support workers to join our team. You should possess commitment to team working and excellent standards of care. You will be able to demonstrate a real enthusiasm for mental health care, applicants should have some experience of working with people with either a Mental Health condition, Dementia, Intellectual disability or Autism Spectrum Disorder and who can demonstrate their compassion and optimism for the rehabilitation and recovery of this client group as well as a desire for on-going professional development. You will receive excellent training opportunities for clinical development and regular supervision and appraisal.
All wards offer a 24-hour service; therefore the successful candidates must be able to work a full range of 12 hour shifts including night shifts and weekends.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Appropriate Mental Health related NVQ level 2.
- Will work towards the appropriate mental health related NVQ level 3 once in post or equivalent experience.
- To demonstrate a range of work procedures and practices base level of theoretical knowledge.
- Completion of or working towards Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 3 months of start date)
Desirable criteria
- NVQ qualifications in Health and Social Care or other related disciplines.
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Understanding of CWP, inclusive of Mental health services and the key role the Trust has within the health economy
- An understanding of confidentiality issues how they relate to mental health policy and practice interventions.
- Knowledge of current staff development and continuous service improvement issues, particularly in the context of adult mental health services.
- Sound knowledge of CWP observation policy
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of providing Care in a structured setting.
- Experience of working collaboratively i.e. with colleagues, wider teams service users etc

- Previous experience of working with adults with severe mental health needs
