Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Clinical Scientist to join our Prenatal Screening Service. The role will assist the Prenatal Screening Director in providing a highly specialised Foetal Anomaly Screening Program for a number of NHS Trusts within the East of England, extending to Northern Ireland UK and Eire, to nationally accepted standards; Fetal Anomoly Screening Programme (FASP) and United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

The role would suit a knowledgable and experienced Clinical Scientist in Biochemistry who is looking to specialise, in addition to taking on additional Clinical and Managerial responsibilities.

To advise on the selection and interpretation of clinical biochemistry results, including the formulation of differential diagnoses and consideration of methodological limitations of the results.

To develop specialised knowledge in the area of prenatal screening gained from experience and post-graduate study.

To develop experience in the statistical analysis of screening data and the generation of complex reports to audit and inform national Prenatal Screening Programme protocols.

To communicate verbally and in written reports the results of specialised scientific tests to clinicians and other healthcare professionals and explain the implications of the results.

To participate in the planning, evaluation and implementation of programmes to improve and develop the service in order to maintain CUHT asa Prenatal Screening centre to nationally accepted standards and in line with current good practice.

To work independently in an organised manner, prioritising work in order to achieve the goals set down by the Director of the unit. This will involve working to deliver broadly defined organisational policy in the context of the Pre-natal screening service. The applicant will be responsible for providing KPI and workload data to external organizations
