With a rapidly ageing population, age-related neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, are fast becoming a major focus of public health interest, leading to studies and interventions worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to work within our clinical research team, providing vital support to our important longitudinal and prevention studies.

You will fulfil an important role within the department, supporting the laboratory technician in providing a laboratory service for our clinical research team, and building a biobank for human fluid samples for population-based research projects on cognitive impairment and dementia. You will also have responsibility for day-to-day smooth running and maintenance of the laboratory, under the direction of the laboratory technician.
Essential requirements
Applicants need to demonstrate excellent laboratory and organisational skills, and have proven experience of handling and storage of biomaterial. Knowledge of the required procedures and regulatory compliance is vital.
