Job description
As part of a recent grant received from the Clinical Research Network, we are looking to recruit a research practitioner (nurse or allied health professional - band 5 or above) to work collaboratively with the GICU research team delivering Emergency Department and Critical Care Research studies across ED and GICU. The post would be on a three-monthly rotational basis for a total of 1 year.
The team currently works on 15-20 studies concurrently in various stages of set up/ recruitment / follow up. We are looking for a friendly, organised, adaptable, computer literate nurse/AHP to work within our small team. We cover 7 days a week (long day’s Monday – Friday and 6.5 hrs shifts at weekends).
We are looking to cover x 1.0 WTE hours split between two successful applicant (0.5 and 0.5). The successful applicants would rotate between the emergency department and the ED / ICU research team. Working in each area, for 3 months at a time (i.e., 3 months research followed by 3 months critical care, for a year)
The Senior ICU Research nurse / AHP is expected to support the management and leadership of the research nurse / AHP in the research team, including rotational research staff. They will have knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and legal frameworks related to the planning, undertaking and closure of clinical research studies. Including Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products and therefore acts as a resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients. They will take a lead in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of a number of clinical research studies that include topics such as severe sepsis, sedation, respiratory failure, perioperative care, resuscitation and urgent public health trials. This will involve active patient recruitment, follow up and maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research. Liaison with a wide range of healthcare professionals across the trust will be required.
