Job description

The Chain Florey Clinical Research Fellowship Scheme presents clinical trainees with a unique opportunity to study basic science supported by two world-renowned academic institutions, Imperial College and the Medical Research Council London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS). The scheme has a variety of PhD projects on offer which focus specifically on experimental science rather than on clinical research.

Chain Florey Clinical Research Fellowships provide an ideal base for those wishing to pursue a career in clinical academia. You should possess prior laboratory experience and will need to demonstrate the skill base and motivation for a basic science PhD; each Fellow is expected to complete their PhD within the duration of the appointment.

The LMS is a world-class Research Institute closely linked to the Faculty of Medicine of Imperial College London, at its Hammersmith Hospital Campus. The Institute has a history of welcoming clinicians into its labs to carry out basic and applied research as part of their training.

The College believes that the use of animals in research is vital to improve human and animal health and welfare. Imperial is committed to ensuring that, in cases where this research is deemed essential, all animals in the College’s care are treated with full respect, and that all staff involved with this work show due consideration at every level.
