This is for apart timepost based within older adult mental health services at Birch Hill Hospital in Rochdale (HMR). The Post holder will work 1 day in the memory service dedicated to post diagnostic support. The Memory Clinic team consists of 2 nurses, 1 qualified assistant practitioner, 1 Occupational Therapist, 2 support workers as well as 2 administrators and a manager. Post diagnostic support would involve working closely with the Occupational Therapist.
On the other 2 days the post holder will be working with the older people’s community mental health team. This team consists of 7 nurses, 1 occupational therapist, 1 trainee mental health well-being practitioner, 1 administrator and a manager. This role will involve holding a small clinical caseload providing assessment and therapy to older adults in the community. Responsibilities will also include supporting the nurses and occupational therapist through case discussion and contributing to risk formulation.
To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service for older people within the Memory Clinic and Older People’s CMHT. The post holder will provide specialist assessment, formulation, and interventions for a clinical caseload.
Operating in an integrated and inclusive style you will work closely with MDTs to support the development of individual care planning.
Your responsibilities will include educating and supporting families and carers of people with dementia and teaching other practitioners. The post holder will propose and implement evidence-based practice, utilising research skills for audit and service developments.

Successful candidates will be part of a vibrant and growing Trust Wide Older People’s Psychological Therapy Service. The existing clinical team collectively has expertise within a wide range of evidence based therapeutic approaches including Narrative Approaches, EMDR and third wave psychological interventions including Compassion Based Approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
