NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service
Pennywell All Care Centre
Clinical Pharmacist, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
Band 7, 1.0 WTE, 37.5 hours
NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.
The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. We are focussed on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking Clinical Pharmacist who wishes to contribute to our vision of improving mental health services for children and young people
This post sits primarily within a locality outpatient team (North Edinburgh) delivering services to a defined patient caseload within the neurodevelopmental team, though on appointment your job plan will include provision of clinical pharmacy consultation and advice to an identified portfolio of specialist outpatient and Tier 4 teams.
You will join a team of clinical pharmacists who have been recruited to the service in the past 12-18 months. This is an excellent opportunity for forward thinking candidates who want to take part in the development of a new service from the beginning – helping to shape the role and the contribution of professional clinical pharmacy in CAMHS.
As a prescribing pharmacist, you will use your expertise and clinical knowledge to take responsibility for a caseload of children and young people who have an established diagnosis and treatment plan formulated by the wider multidisciplinary team. As a case holder you will be competent to undertake physical monitoring, review of treatment effectiveness and side effect monitoring.
Applications for jobshares, part-time and flexible working considered. On-call, Public Holidays and weekend working may be required (as necessary for future service provision).
Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and should have completed the NES Post - Registration Pharmacist Foundation Programme or documented evidence of equivalent competency. Due to the nature of this role, independent prescribing qualification is essential.
For an informal discussion please contact our CAMHS Clinical Services Manager [email protected] or [email protected] Lead Pharmacist at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
