As an Endocrinology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be a registered nurse who has acquired significant specialised Endocrinology knowledge & have current experience in the management of various aspects of endocrinology conditions. Preferably you will have previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and have the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care, including IV administration, venipuncture & cannulation certified to support patient’s treatment / compliance, particularly with complex treatment regimes. You will act as a resource for expert advice and training, facilitating an immediate point of contact for urgent patient consultation. You will plan efficient outpatient care, in patient reviews & independent follow up to facilitate care & admission avoidance
You will be responsible for consultancy, teaching, audit, research, participate in service development in conjunction with the Endocrinology team /team lead and maintain service objectives to meet the changing demands of delivering specialised Endocrinology care across South / South West sector & GGC as required. You will work autonomously within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team; consult in nurse led clinics whilst ensuring a high standard of care is maintained. It is essential you possess a high level of interpersonal and confident communication skills to manage & support this specific client group. You will be responsible to engage with various teams within Primary & Secondary care including hospital clinicians and General Practitioners & maintain excellent clinical links between the services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times.
You will be expected to contribute professionally within groups which may cross-traditional or service boundaries and possess a high level of ITC skills including e- forms, Trak care and portal. You will be a Car Driver and be based within the South Sector and shift pattern is Monday – Friday or as the service requirements dictate. It is also essential that you are currently a NMC Registered Adult Nurse. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme.
