Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for an International Patient Liaison Officer to join their team of staff in the Marketing department.
This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of three years’ experience of working as a medical interpreter.
- Knowledge of cultural differences.
- Degree level education or evidence of equivalent level of ability/ NHS experience.
- An ECDL qualification or equivalent qualification/experience – able to set up spreadsheets and documents as well as input data onto pre-prepared spreadsheets and word documents.
Duties of this role include:
- You are responsible for providing assistance and excellent customer service to international patients and hospital colleagues.
- You provide a full Arabic interpreting service, both oral, written and including cultural support to international patients and their families within a demanding environment.
- You interpret complex medical information, including the sensitive interpretation of terminal conditions, direct to the patient and their family.
- You provide interpreting/translating services to the hospital staff when requested.
- You provide cultural training to the patients and the hospital team.
- You send regular updates of inpatients (and sometimes outpatients) to the sponsoring embassies.
- You send inpatient discharge summaries to the patients sponsoring embassies.
- You handle patient and relative complaints which include but are not limited to issuing clarification through interviews with patient, families and hospital team.
- You comply with all relevant mandatory training.
