Job description
We are looking for two skilled and enthusiastic Band 7 psychologists to join our large and dedicated psychology department, in the forensic inpatient service at the John Howard Centre. We serve a diverse community in East London and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. The roles can offer great experience of MDT working, opportunities to join in with service development and Quality Improvement projects, co-production, Recovery College and other CPD opportunities. The psychology department is part of a wider therapies offer and we have expanding systemic family therapy and arts therapies services also on site, as well as a dynamic forensic occupational therapy team. As a psychology department, we have good links with a number of psychology training providers and are regularly asked to provide teaching and training to psychology trainees and other professions. We are a large service so there are opportunities to experience working across different parts of the forensic mental health pathway and to link in with other work going on across ELFT. If you think working with us might be of interest to you but have questions, please get in touch.
Responsible for providing a specialist psychology service to inpatients in the forensic service, including specialist psychological assessments and interventions. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures, and the department’s objectives. To utilise research skills in audit and other research and development activities. To supervise and direct the work of assistant psychologists and students on placement as required.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
