Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

The role will reside within the EMEA Climate Risk Central (CRC). The CRC team identifies, monitors and manages Climate Risk of the EMEA portfolio based on the established Climate Risk Management framework. The team is responsible for monitoring regulatory requirements from the European Central Bank and the Bank of England, as well as ensuring the timely implementation of new regulations. The CRC team coordinates the implementation of the Climate Risk frameworks across Risk Management teams providing expertise on Climate Change. The CRC team also coordinates climate stress testing including internal and regulatory scenarios.

What will you be doing?

    Play a central role in organising the cross divisional response to EMEA regulatory requirements around managing the financial risks from Climate Change, including the maintenance of and updates to the central plan and overseeing execution of that plan to deadline

    Draft and develop governance materials and risk framework documentation

    Apply understanding of the impact of climate risk on economies and corporations to risk management via contributing to the enhancement of rating methodologies and portfolio and sector risk management (including limit reporting)

    Liaise with stakeholders across risk disciplines to support the implementation of Climate and Environmental Risk frameworks

    Contribute to the enhancement of climate-focused physical and transition scenarios for stress testing

    Develop expertise in the following areas: the drivers of Climate Change including how it affects economies and corporations, governmental and regulatory responses to Climate Change and emerging thought over how to measure and manage Climate Risk from a financial loss perspective

QUALIFICATIONS

What we’re looking for:

    Profound interest in developing fundamental understanding of Climate Change and its implications for risk management

    Experience in risk management, preferably in credit risk

    Experience in development of governance materials

    Experience with technical models / rating models / stress testing
