Climate Change Analyst
London
As a Barclays Climate Change Analyst, you’ll be supporting the Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) team in developing expertise and knowledge in key areas of climate change transition. This is a key role to focus on research and data analytics to help the team have the best understanding of latest developments in climate change knowledge and theory. You will need to find the best approaches for financial institutions when it comes to measuring and setting policies relating to the institution’s impact on climate change.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. - Following developments with regards to climate change science and comprehending how this can be applied to the financial services and corporate sectors
- Learning and becoming expert in carbon accounting, portfolio alignment and target setting approaches and methodologies, supporting the team with research and analy-sis
- Considering a wider set of transition considerations, including a just transition, impacts on nature & biodiversity
- Helping the team having a solid, always current understanding of best practice in our sector and how we compare to peers
- Supporting the team’s work on transaction reviews as required, conducting research on specific clients relating to live transactions and referrals
- Assisting colleagues in the bank’s policy position development and training across the range of environmental and social issues which the bank’s activities are linked to
- Aiding team colleagues where necessary with responses to public campaigns or specif-ic enquiries from investors, customers, and investors
- Attending external events/conferences/seminars on sustainability topics relevant to Barclays and the individual’s role – taking notes and providing de-briefings back to the team
What we’re looking for:
- Analytical and research skills, it would benefit the candidate if they could demonstrate experience of this through either academic work or early work experience
- Team player, interested in going the extra mile for the benefit of the team as a whole/collective objective that benefits the organisation
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
- For recent graduates or early career professional, preferable if academic studies or experience has involved climate change or sustainability topics
- Previous experience or knowledge around climate science, climate scenarios, decarbonisation pathways and other relevant climate change expertise

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as: a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
