Location: Flexibly remote from one of our UK hubs (London, Bristol, Oxford, Manchester, Edinburgh or Harrogate)

Responsibilities

  • Delivering business value to our clients and effectively communicating key sustainability messages
  • Performing detailed calculations to determine material flows, greenhouse gas emissions, ecological footprints and other environmental, economic and social metrics, as may be required
  • You will be helping to write technical reports, drawing on expertise from across the wider team and rest of the business.
  • Support with writing proposals for new business, in collaboration with the existing team
  • Be independent in engaging with a wide variety of clients, often in senior roles within their business.
  • Attend client meetings, where necessary, for development of opportunities and project delivery.
  • Deliver on multiple projects independently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Learn and develop your technical expertise, supported by senior colleagues across the sustainability teams

Summary of Role

Anthesis’ goal is to reduce global emissions 3Gt by 2030 through our work – that’s about half the annual emissions of the US! With a goal like that, we don’t mess about, pushing our clients to stretch beyond what feels easy or comfortable. Afterall, we’re in a climate emergency, so nothing less will do. While pressure to decarbonize has never been higher, doing it right starts with great data, expert analysis, and evidence-led solutions.

We are seeking a highly motivated technical Consultant/Analyst to join the UK Climate team. This is a delivery role engaging directly with the market to support major sustainability projects to our clients. It will involve collaborating with global Anthesis sustainability experts and with other Technical Consultants not only to deliver great projects but also to develop new innovative ways of approaching sustainability.

Anthesis focuses on driving maximum sustainable impact by our clients both in the private and public sector, many of which are major blue-chip companies such as LEGO, PepsiCo, Diageo and Janssen. You will have the opportunity to work on market leading projects across areas including greenhouse gas inventories, science-based targets, internal carbon pricing, climate risk, ecological footprinting, economic modelling, life cycle analysis, food waste, climate action plans, climate justice and much more. You will working with a large team of experts both in the UK and across our global practice.

We are seeking someone with personal passion for sustainability, eager to learn with a drive to have impact. You must be a self-starter with initiative who can flex across client sectors and services areas to deliver excellence and value for our clients.

Requirements

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) or Economics Bachelors/Master’s Degree or equivalent
  • Ideally 1-2 years’ experience in relevant work or research position
  • Excellent Excel skills and other analytical software
  • Demonstrable potential in client management
  • Self-motivation and curiosity
  • Strong communication and showing potential for developing consulting skills
  • Team player

  • Previous background or passion for sustainability preferred;
  • Curious, globally minded and enthusiastic;
  • Organised, methodical and analytical;
  • Effective time management and organisational skills. Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment;
  • Work well with a wide range of people on a global basis;
  • Proactive with the ability and confidence to use initiative;
  • Well presented with a professional manner to act as a brand ambassador which flexes and is appropriate for the specific client environment and circumstances.
