The Role:
As a Client Surveyor you can make your own powerful contribution to the delivery of an ambitious capital programme. You’ll be integral to our mission: to ensure residents across Westminster have the very best. That means a supportive and safe environment, with access to high quality, affordable housing and the chance to build fantastic careers in world-leading industries.
You’ll be our day-to-day lead for technical issues relating to the planning of building refurbishment projects. We’ll look to you to manage projects through strategic definition, into preparation and brief (RIBA Stages 0-2). Managing a range of projects, targets and deadlines at any one time, you’ll make sure our delivery team and contractor partners are fully briefed on the expected scope and performance of design works. You’ll also play a key part in driving ongoing improvement by monitoring and reviewing lessons learnt from completed projects. Supporting our Client Surveying Manager in decision-making and monitoring of works, you’ll forge influential relationships with a wide range of people across the council - from our Housing team and resident advocates, to repairs and leaseholder officers.

About You:
A member of RICS or CIOB, you’ll bring to the role a proven track record in a building surveying or project management environment, delivering high impact construction projects to time, cost and quality standards. Proven experience in the condition survey assessment of residential property would be a real advantage. You’ll certainly demonstrate the ability to ascertain improvement works and the liability of each element of work.
Crucially, you’ll also have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop close collaborative relationships with people at all levels. You have the acumen and confidence to challenge proposals and ensure they evidence value for money. Awareness of legislation including the Landlord and Tenant Act is important, too.
