JOB TITLE: Client Development Manager - Commercial Cards
LOCATION(S): Birmingham, Bristol
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site
About this opportunity
Commercial Cards provides card-based payment solutions across both the travel and B2B payables function for our Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) customers. Corporate businesses rely on the services provided by Commercial Cards, day in and day out, allowing our business to generate quality, sustainable income and high returns.
We have undertaken significant investment in our payments solutions and have a strategic partnership with Visa to support the product requirement of our customers to meet a number of payment objectives, including business travel and reconciliation requirements, virtual payment solutions to enable single use and strategic purchasing, working capital solutions to support wider Trade and Supply Chain strategies and embedded API’s to drive streamlined procure to pay processes.
In this exciting role you'll lead new business activity, working as an integral part of our team and reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Cards CIB.

What you'll need
Develop and implement an effective sales strategy and business plans for your designated industry sector. Collaborate closely with the Head of Commercial Cards and secure support from internal partners to better identify and meet customer needs.
Proactively manage relationships with our clients within the Commercial Banks existing portfolio. This includes achieving targets by understanding client needs, crafting and renewing proposals, and spotting opportunities for growth and increased profitability. Implement solutions that align with Group risk and profitability standards, while also aligning with the Coverage Relationship strategy.
Work collaboratively with Relationship Teams to prepare and submit credit applications, following the established strategy. Engage with colleagues in product, sales support and risk departments as needed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all Commercial Card transactions. Effectively communicating both technical and operational details to clients.
Identify and address product gaps or new opportunities to enhance our product and service offerings. Play a key role in influencing the development of new products and more cost effective delivery channels.

Consistent track record of delivery and technical understanding of Commercial Card products
Experience at managing, originating and selling to Executive level within CIB
Demonstrable success in Commercial Cards and Business Development
Solid understanding of budgets, economic return principles and capital treatment
Ability to lead client product relationships and develop strong and productive internal networks
Sound commercial, technical and risk based decision making capability, within delegated authority or with referral to appropriate customers
Identify product gaps or new product opportunities to influence the development of key new product service initiatives and more efficient delivery channels
Evaluate industry, market, customer competitor and regulatory trends to ensure that identifiable risks and opportunities are defined and developed in order to deliver the appropriate response that protects and develops business benefits to the Group
