Job description
The Information Management Data Clerk collects, analyzes and extracts clinical information from paper and electronic sources and enters the information into the Patient Records and Outcome Management Information System (PROMIS). This position ensures data quality and integrity by reviewing data capture for accuracy and completeness.
What you’ll do
- Collects patient data from the BC Renal Pathology database, and the BC GN Registry, or extracts data from clinical charts; enters patient data into the PROMIS Database.
- Ensures data quality/integrity of assigned work by reviewing the data capture for accuracy and completeness.
- Assists in continuous improvement of the computerized electronic system by providing constructive feedback and assisting with testing process prior to the implementation of new or revised changes to the systems.
- Queries database for missing data; maintains patient data by taking corrective action under the guidance of the responsible physician.
- Entry of Physician dictated notes for these registries into PROMIS
- Participates in continuous quality improvement of work process activities by performing duties such as providing input/feedback to supervisor on processes and opportunities for process improvement
- Provides relief coverage and demonstrates and orients new employees and other data clerks as required.
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from Grade 12, in addition to a Medical Office Assistant or Hospital Support Specialist Course and two (2) years of experience in a healthcare related environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated experience in word processing and spreadsheet software, such as MSWord and Excel applications. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Highly organized and able to multi-task and pay attention to detail. Ability to interact with staff in a positive and professional manner. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and determine appropriate action to take in handling inquiries. Demonstrated ability to organize work and to problem solve.

Salary Range: $44,088 - $57,865 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
