Job description

We are looking to appoint Clerical Assistants to provide a high standard of clerical support to The Community Directorate clinical staff who are based in various sites across Newcastle. We are looking for reliable, flexible and motivated individuals to support the team.

These are full and part time permanent posts working with the Community Administration service. The posts will be to work within the 0-19 Service, The Single Point of Access Team and The Urgent Treatment Centres.

The post holder will work alongside other clerical staff to evaluate and prioritise workload in a busy environment and respond to the constantly changing needs of the service users in line with local and national targets. They will also provide a high standard of admin support to clinical staff handling telephone calls, using electronic referral process SystmOne or Telecare and receiving requests from patients and carers as well as professionals.

  • To provide a high standard of support to Clinical staff handling telephone calls.
  • To use an electronic referral process (SystmOne/Telecare) to ensure requests are responded to in a professional, confidential and efficient manner.
  • To receive requests from patients and carers, acute hospitals, GP practices, Social Services and health care agencies.
  • To communicate directly with members of the public and other services.
  • To abide by Trust policies and procedures
  • To be an effective part of the team contributing to the departmental objectives.
  • Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other office duties as required e.g. general tidiness, pre determined stock levels are met and equipment is clean, and stored
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
