Minster Cleaning Newcastle has been established since 1996 and is a family owned and run business providing commercial contract cleaning in the North East. We cover the office and commercial cleaning needs of Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, Sunderland, Washington, South Shields, Tynemouth, Ponteland, Blyth, Ashington, Morpeth, Hexham, Prudhoe and surrounding areas.
This is a permanent vacancy for a Commercial Cleaning Supervisor. You must be able to drive and hold a full clean driving license. You will have access to a company vehicle and company mobile phone.
The hours are Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm & Friday 9am - 3.30pm (37.5hrs per week) additional hours may be available.
Reports to Area Manager
To provide effective hands-on operational management of the cleaning services, supervise cleaning staff, monitor performance by aid of Quality checks and liaise with customers ensure contract specifications and targets are met.
Duties
1. Keep, maintain, and update records of work in progress/completed, and of all staff arrangements including checking time sheets for normal and overtime working.
2. Pre-plan resource allocation against scheduled work in liaison with the operations Area Manager.
3. Work with teams as necessary, lead by example and communicate expectations including levels of performance and productivity required.
4. Monitor the productivity of staff both in terms of quality standards and outputs by checking work in progress and upon completion.
5. Compile necessary work schedules and work monitors, and other paper work such as work instructions and working procedures necessary for performance monitoring and quality assurance.
6. Maintain computer records as required in a timely and accurate manner.
7. Manage and motivate front line staff to ensure qualitative and quantitative targets are met.
8. Maintain the presentation of vehicles and equipment paying particular attention to ensuring all vehicles and that defects are recorded and addressed accordingly.
9. Implement contingency arrangements in the event of staff shortages, or any incidents which might cause service delay or failure.
10. Provide on-site training as required for all equipment that may be necessary for the completion of contractual requirements.
11. Ensuring all client complaints are remedied in a timely manner, confirming the action taken with the client.
12. Supervise specific projects such as intensive cleansing operations and one off deep cleans.
13. Ensure staff adheres to health and safety, legal and quality requirements and any relevant codes of practice and work instructions. This includes ensuring staff are wearing supplied PPE and uniform.
14. Ensure that staff adhere to disciplinary rules and acceptable behaviour and take necessary action in the event of breaches.
15. Maintain and control stocks of supplies, ensure re-ordering is prompted in a timely fashion.
16. To supervise staff at weekends, bank holidays and evenings as directed by the contract manager.
17. Deputise for Area Managers as required (e.g., annual leave, sickness).
18. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the position, which contribute to the purpose and objectives of Minster Services.
19. Undertake a cleaning role to cover for staff shortages, sickness, and holiday cover.
Your main role would be liaising with customers via email/calls to book and complete site visits across the north east. (There is access to a company car.) You would be completing quality inspections of the cleaning standards and maintaining relationships between the customer and Minster. Identifying any areas of improvement with either the cleaning or cross referencing any additional services that could be of benefit to the customer (carpet cleaning, window cleaning, covid fogging services etc) and reporting into the Contracts Manager. To provide effective hands-on operational management of the cleaning services, supervise cleaning staff, monitor performance and ensure contract specifications and targets are met and to aid the Contracts manager in the preparation of budgets.
The role entails that you:
- Have some cleaning knowledge or experience
- Have some office admin knowledge or experience
- Maintain Health and Safety standards at all times.
- Must hold a full and clean driving license and applicants need to meet the age requirements of the company’s insurance.
- Complete quality inspections on site covering the north east.
- Deal with any customer requests promptly and courteously
