Capital Pleasure Boats has an opening for a passenger boat skipper to work with our crew on our fleet of 4 busy Class V Thames party boats. There will also be some cross-over work on the marine services vessels, especially in months when the passenger boats are quieter.

When working as Captain you are ultimately responsible, under the law, for all aspects of operation such as the safe navigation of the ship.
Your duties will include:
· Ensuring that the vessel complies with PLA / MCA maritime roles and regulations, as well as with company policies.
· Vessel cleanliness and river/ seaworthiness
· Safe handling of all cargo (passenger or goods)
· Management of all personnel under your control – other crew in Mate or Apprentice position and all bar staff including the bar manager.
· Maintaining the ship's certificates and documentation and writing reports on both passenger boats and workboats. Daily email reports to the Operations Manager.
· Knowledge of engines, machinery and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
· Liaison and cooperation with office, operations manager, bar staff, directors and clients.
· Conducting viewings of CPBS vessels and client liaison during viewings and functions. Giving prompt feedback to the office.
· Working alongside the bar manager to ensure smooth running of functions.
· Ensuring all licences required to carry out work are in date
· You are also required to undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time. You must perform your work diligently and faithfully, and comply with any general or specific instructions that may from time to time be given to you by the Directors or senior crew members.
Minimum qualification requirements:
· MCA BML Tier 1 level 2 with passenger boat endorsement and Thames LKE (local knowledge endorsements)
Also required are current sea survival, fire-fighting, first aid and VHF certificates along with a medical certificate.
Salary:
Salary £43,650 to £93,180 dependant on experience and overtime. We guarantee 40 hours per week with overtime available at the same hourly rate. When working on a party you will be paid a ‘party bonus’ of 2 additional hours for a weekday (Monday to Thursday) and 4 hours for a weekend (Friday to Sunday). This means for an average week working a 4 hour party on 5 days of the week you will work 45 hours and be paid 61.
Bonuses:
You will receive a night bonus of between £5.25-£5.60 an hour for all hours worked between 7pm and 7am. This will only apply to actual hours worked between these times.
Function bonus (midweek) – If you are working on the pleasure boats as crew during a function on Monday to Thursday, you will receive a bonus of 2 hours pay. This bonus is restricted to one bonus in the event two or more functions are worked on one day.
Function bonus (weekend) – If you are working on the pleasure boats as crew during a function on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you will receive a bonus of 4 hours pay. This bonus is restricted to one bonus in the event two or more functions are worked on one day.
Skippers and Senior Skippers and DCM’s for a CPBS vessel will receive a £20 per month phone allowance.
