Job description
Our Opportunity:
Here at Amey Rail and AIW, you’ll have the unique opportunity to bring high-profile, ground-breaking Rail projects seeing them come to life. Your work will have impact, making a genuine difference to people’s lives, often in the very community where you live.
As a Summer Intern in Civil Engineer, you’ll join a growing team to provide the engineering support installation works within the railway environment to ensure that we achieve the Net Carbon Zero targets. You’ll be stretched, but always supported, surrounded by people who want you to thrive and embrace new challenges, recognising your hard work and looking out for your wellbeing.
We have opportunities across various rail engineering disciplines:
- Buildings & Civils
- Electricity & Power
- Overhead Line Equipment
Each discipline is based out of our main depots, in the Cardiff and Core Valley lines areas in Wales, where you’ll collaborate and engage with colleagues through a combination of office and site-based working, working a mixture of days and nights. You will be part of several projects operating within the multi-billion-pound Wales and Borders Franchise Contracts.
What we do expect from you:
As a Summer Intern, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities.
We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
- Working towards Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Power Engineering
- Available to join the programme in July 2023
- We want you to share our passion and desire to develop yourself within this exciting area
If you possess the determination, initiative, and curiosity to become an expert in your field, or one of our future leaders, then our graduate development programme could be for you.
What you’ll receive in return:
Here at Amey, our greatest asset is our people so that’s why we ensure that our rewards will make you feel that you are a valued part of us.
We will offer you a starting salary for the duration of your internship; £10.42 per hour for duration of 10-12 weeks.
You will also receive:
- Access to our Save with Amey portal which will give you access to hundreds of offers to online retailers. You could save on your next holiday, day out or shopping spree,
- We have a flexible benefits scheme which you can buy additional annual leave, cycle2work schemes, gym memberships, travel insurance, tastecards, and lots more,
- You will join our bustling Early Careers community which is made up of over 300 Apprentices and Graduates where you can network, arrange fundraising initiatives, suggest ideas and get involved with lots of extra-curricular activities,
- Social value benefits which include the ability to volunteer for a charity of your choice, participation in the DofE award, and support for fundraising initiatives.
