Apprenticeship role
The Smart Transport Team at the City of York Council are looking for an Apprentice Civil Engineering Technician. You will work alongside a dynamic and forward thinking team on cutting edge projects to develop and improve the transport systems in and around our award-winning city.

Candidates should have at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths, English, Science plus one other subject

What You’ll Be Doing:
From day one you'll work alongside a dedicated team, supporting the creation of new tangible schemes within the ever-changing field of smart technology. Your responsibilities will include a range of tasks, which will vary, however will involve:
- Contributing to the design of new Highway schemes, such as traffic signal junctions and other transport technology projects.
- Undertaking risk assessments and other safety related engineering activities.
- Surveying sites to gather information and contribute to new schemes.
- Writing reports and other documents to help move schemes through the full lifecycle from inception to completion.
- Contribute to consultation exercises to collect and incorporate feedback from a variety of different stakeholders.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.
